A Sunday Kind of Love is an original production inspired by the music and life elements of legendary soul icon Etta James. Through dynamic vocals, compelling monologues, and immersive visual storytelling, Promise Marks takes audiences on an emotional journey through love, heartbreak, resilience, and redemption. The show has been described as “watching a movie come to life.”
Promise Marks is a multi-talented professional entertainer with an impressive résumé that spans music, film, television, theater, and digital content creation. Originally from Southern California, she relocated to Las Vegas in 2016 and has since become a staple in the city’s entertainment scene. She is a three-time nominee for the Las Vegas Black Music Awards and a two-time winner of the Las Vegas Black Film Festival’s Acting Actors Showdown Competition. She is also a regularly featured singer for the Mrs. America Pageant held at the International Theater at the Westgate.
In August 2024, Marks debuted her widely acclaimed Etta James Tribute Show at Maxan Jazz Club, backed by a five-piece band. The show’s success led to continued bookings and further cemented her reputation as a standout live performer.
Her original musical, “A Sunday Kind of Love,” first premiered as the 60th season opener for the Black Repertory Theater in Berkeley, California, where it exceeded expectations, earning an extended run and a front-page feature in the Berkeley Tri-City Post.
